    July 16 - 18, 2019, VI Forum of the Regions of Russia and Belarus was held for the first time in St. Petersburg

    The organizers are the  Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Republic Council of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus with the support of the Government of St. Petersburg and the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg.

    On the zero day of the Forum, June 16, the Russian-Belarusian youth forum was held.

    On June 17, the Forum participants worked in 4 thematic sections: on issues of joint youth projects of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, the creation of a common information space, cultural and humanitarian projects, tourism and education.

    On July 18, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took part in the plenary meeting of the Forum on the topic “Inter-regional relations as the basis for the formation of a single cultural and humanitarian space of the peoples of Russia and Belarus”.

    Also, during the plenary session, Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov made a speech (for more details, see “St. Petersburg and Belarus share a common historical memory and joint projects in the economy, culture and education”: https: //www.gov.spb. com / press / governor / 169376 /)

    In his speech, Alexander Beglov spoke about the results of cooperation between St. Petersburg and the Republic of Belarus, identified new directions for the development of cooperation and the projects proposed for implementation, and also noted that the next meeting of the Business Cooperation Council of St. Petersburg and the Republic of Belarus will be held in the autumn of 2019 in Brest.

    The next Forum of Russian and Belarusian regions will be held in 2020 in the Republic of Belarus.
