    May 4, an exhibition of paintings by Russian artists from St. Petersburg and Chinese graduates of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin opened in the exhibition complex of the Russian-Chinese Park of Regional Cooperation in the Chinese city of Qingdao, Shandong Province (founded in April 2018).

    The event was organized by the Office of Culture and Tourism of Shandong Province, Qingdao City Hall, the head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Qingdao, Ms. Li Ying, the head of the West Coast area, Mr. Zhou Anh, and the International Economic Cooperation Zone Management Committee.

    On the Russian side, the event was attended by the head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the PRC, the adviser of the Russian Embassy in China, O.A. Melnikova, Head of the Information and Business Center of St. Petersburg in China G.V. Kulikov, the leadership and members of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists (painting section), teachers of the St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin at the Russian Academy of Arts.

    Representatives of the Chinese side in their speeches noted the significant contribution of the classical Russian art school to the traditions of modern Chinese painting in the context of expanding the intercultural dialogue of the two countries and further strengthening the cultural cooperation between China and Russia.

    Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition and studio of Russian artists, timed to the years of interregional cooperation and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in the People's Republic of China O.A. Melnikova noted that the opening of the exhibition and the studio will be another link in the solid foundation of Russian-Chinese humanitarian cooperation.
