    The Declaration of Intent was signed between the administration of the Admiralteisky District of St. Petersburg and the Mayor's Office of the South Korean city of Gwangyang

    The signing of the cooperation document took place on May 6, 2019 during the visit of the official delegation of the Gwangyang city to St. Petersburg. The delegation was headed by the mayor of Gwangyang, Mr. Jong Hyun-bok, the delegation included representatives of the town hall of Gwangyang, the administration of the province of Cholla-Namdo, as well as heads of leading enterprises of the city.

    The parties intend to develop cooperation in various areas: economy, education, culture, art and tourism. According to Mayor Gwangyang, the South Korean side is also interested in cooperation and exchange of experience in creating comfortable living conditions for the population, working with young people and the older generation.

    Taking into account that the second port in Korea in terms of cargo transshipment is located in Gwangyang, cooperation in the development of port infrastructure seems promising.

    Also during the visit, the signing of the Agreement on cooperation between the St. Petersburg State Conservatory. ON. Rimsky-Korsakov and the city hall of Gwangyang. Within the framework of the agreement, representatives of the St. Petersburg Conservatory will provide advice to South Korean partners in the implementation of the project for the creation of the Gwangyang Conservatory.

    For reference: Gwangyang is a developed transport, industrial and tourist center of the province of Cholla-Namdo. The city has the second largest seaport in the Republic of Korea, which handles container and bulk cargo, iron ore and steel products. The largest in the world in the production of raw steel plant POSCO Gwangyang produces a wide range of high-quality steel products, including sheet metal and steel for the automotive industry.
