The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg Evgeny Grigoriev and Deputy representative of the Russian foreign Ministry in St. Petersburg Sergey Chernyshev.
Oleg Markov welcomed Kwon don SOK and noted that the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg is always actively involved in the implementation of joint St. Petersburg-Korean projects, acting as a reliable partner for the city.
The Vice-Governor briefly outlined the full range of trade and economic relations between St. Petersburg and the Republic of Korea and expressed the hope that the somewhat reduced volume of mutual trade should recover. Among the promising areas that allow to align economic indicators, O. A. Markov called the implementation of new joint projects in the field of investment, construction and culture. In particular, he told about plans for construction of the Center of East single combats and theme parks in St. Petersburg, and invited Korean investors to participate in them.
O. A. Markov also noted that it sees a potential for cooperation in the field of shipbuilding, waste management and medical tourism.
In turn, Mr. Kwon don SOK thanked the Vice-Governor O. A. Markov for the opportunity to meet and spoke about the current work of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg. He shared information about the search of the Korean side for a potential partner for St. Petersburg in the field of waste processing, spoke about the planned visit to St. Petersburg of the delegation of Busan city hall in the summer of 2019. Separately, Mr. Kwon focused on the plans for 2020 in connection with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea.
At the end of the meeting, the Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg O. A. Markov noted the active work of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in St. Petersburg, confirmation of which, according to him, is the presence in the calendar of international events of the city of a large number of events related to Korea.
