    The Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg is working on the most effective formats of interaction with representatives of the expert community in the field of international relations

    On February 25, the first meeting of the Public Council under the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg was held in Smolny.

    The meeting discussed the results of the Committee's work in 2018 and plans for the current period. Members of the Council – experts in the field of international relations and development of interregional relations, representatives of public organizations and professional associations made proposals to strengthen cooperation and coordination of joint activities.

    During the meeting were made:
    - acting Chairman of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg Sergei Markov
    , Chairman of the St. Petersburg Association of international cooperation Margarita Mudrak;
    - head of international cooperation North-West Institute of management – branch of Ranepa by Natalia Muzinich;
    - the Deputy of Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, head of the special laboratory "strategy for the development and security of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation" North-West Institute of management – branch of Ranepa Boris Ivchenko;
    - managing of the Fund of support of small business "Europachorakademie Center" Maxim Balanev;
    - Vice-President of the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg Georgiy Abelev.

    The meeting was chaired by the rector of St. Petersburg state University of Economics, Chairman of the Council Igor Maksimtsev.

    Speaking from the section on the development of foreign economic cooperation, Maxim Balanev asked the management of the Committee to pay special attention to the topics of clean technologies and support for startups. According to him, the serious competencies in these areas have been accumulated in St. Petersburg, and now, with the support of the Committee, it is necessary to expand specialized discussions with the involvement of foreign experts.

    Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, member of the section on relations with international organizations Boris Ivchenko expressed the opinion that the work of the Public Council should form a portfolio of creative cases that could be implemented.

    Vice-President of the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg Georgy Abelev, who is in the section of the Council for the development of cooperation with the subjects of Russia, spoke about the successful examples of the Committee's promotion of representatives of the St. Petersburg business community in foreign markets. In particular, as a result of a number of cultural and business missions of St. Petersburg to the regions of Russia and the CIS, the St. Petersburg company engaged in the installation of decorative lighting and street lighting, found contractors and secured new orders. According to G. A. Abelev, assistance in establishing contacts with partners abroad and in other regions of Russia is an important and effective tool in the development of St. Petersburg business.

    Members of the Public Council unanimously agreed that such meetings should be held at least once every six months or even once a quarter. It is important to discuss plans and, if possible, to combine events on similar topics in the calendar schedule.

    The purpose of the Council's work is to ensure that socially significant interests, proposals and recommendations of citizens, Federal public authorities, public authorities of the Russian Federation, local authorities, public associations, including human rights, religious, and professional associations of entrepreneurs are taken into account when resolving the most important issues of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg.
