    February 4, 2019 in Minsk (Belarus) was presented the premiere of " the First day of peace after the war»

    Thus, a series of foreign events of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg, organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade, was launched.

    The project also organized a photo exhibition "I'm talking to you from Leningrad", dedicated to the blockade of the city.

    All guests were given some ribbon "Leningrad Victory" and icons from the "Blockade sign" - a symbol of the unbreakable spirit of the people of Leningrad". On behalf of the Government of St. Petersburg, memorable signs "in honor of the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade"were handed over to the besiegers living in the Belarusian capital.

    The event was attended by representatives of the Public Association "Belarusian Union of blockade of Leningrad", Minsk Suvorov military school, Lyceum of the Belarusian national technical University, club "Patriot" (DOSAAF), Minsk state College of electronics, as well as volunteers of the Minsk regional organization of the Belarusian Republican youth Union.

    Vladimir Andreev, Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Belarus, Leonid Makurov, Deputy representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Belarus and Melsat Khalimov, Deputy Director of the Department for security cooperation and countering new challenges and threats of the CIS Executive Committee, addressed the participants. 

    The welcoming speech of Alexander Beglov, the Acting Governor of St. Petersburg, was also read out to the blockades living abroad. "Today you live far from the Northern capital, but our hearts are always near," the address says. - Our city reveres the memory of the war and the blockade. You will always be an example of courage and bravery for us."

    In addition, the Chairman of the NGO "Belarusian Union of blockade of Leningrad" Maria Yagodnitsyna spoke from the stage. She thanked the organizers represented by the Government of St. Petersburg for holding such events and efforts to preserve the historical memory and transfer knowledge about the war and the blockade to the younger generation.

    The audience was presented with the play "the First day of peace after the war", which was based on the memoirs of iconic personalities of Leningrad (St. Petersburg): Olga Bergholz, Daniil Granin, Nikolai Tikhonov, Anna Akhmatova, Alexander Blok, as well as military songs.

    Foreign events of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade will be held in 9 cities from 5 countries, where the largest number of Russian compatriots live. The program includes literary and musical performances "the First day of peace after the war" and "Hour", prepared specifically for this project, a photo exhibition, meetings of the blockade, film screenings of feature and documentary films produced by the Lenfilm Studio.
    Events will be held during February-March 2019 in Berlin, Hamburg (Germany), Washington, St. Petersburg (USA), Tallinn, Narva (Estonia), Riga, Daugavpils (Latvia).
    The aim of the project is to support the Russian world abroad and spread knowledge about the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945.

    The organizer of the events in Minsk is the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg with the support of the Russian Embassy and the Russian mission in Belarus, the House of Moscow and the Executive Committee of Minsk.
