The parties discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation between St. Petersburg and the Czech Republic, in particular, the implementation of a joint project for the processing of tires.
Representatives of the relevant committees of the Administration of St. Petersburg took part in the meeting: Committee on environmental management, environmental protection and environmental safety, Committee on improvement of St. Petersburg, Committee on investments of St. Petersburg.
The delegation of the Czech Republic included senators of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, deputies, politicians, entrepreneurs, public figures who arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in the commemorative events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade. The delegation was headed by member of European Parliament from the Czech Republic J. Koglichek.
During the meeting, the head of the Czech company "MAXPOL" noted that today the Czech Republic faces two main problems in the field of environmental safety: water purification and utilization of automobile tires. He said that in the Czech Republic annually processed about 300 000 tons of tires. MAXPOL, in cooperation with its Polish partners, has developed an innovative plant for the processing of automobile tires, after which the products of deep processing can be further used in the metallurgical and chemical industries.
Representatives of the sectoral committees of the Administration of St. Petersburg, in turn, informed the Czech colleagues about the situation with the processing of solid waste in St. Petersburg and talked about the city's experience and opportunities in this area.
The representative of the investment Committee of St. Petersburg introduced the delegation to the mechanisms developed by the city Government to support foreign investors in the territory of St. Petersburg and said he was ready to consider the proposals of the Czech side.
As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed interest in the development of cooperation and a more detailed study of possible mechanisms for the implementation of joint projects.
Evgeny Grigoriev invited Czech entrepreneurs to take part in the work of the Joint working group on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation between St. Petersburg and the Czech Republic, the next meeting of which is scheduled for may 2019. As the Chairman of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg noted, this would be an effective mechanism for cooperation.
