    On 18 - 20 September 2018 Inter-Korean Summit-2018 was held in Pyongyang (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea)

    During the Summit, the Parties discussed issues related to the implementation of the Panmunjom Declaration, practical solutions to establish lasting peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula as well as its denuclearization.

    At the high-level meeting, President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-In and Chairman of the DPRK Kim Jong-un acknowledged the success of the Panmunjom Declaration and discussed further development of cooperation between South and North Korea. As a result of the Summit, September Pyongyang Declaration was signed.

    The key themes of the meeting were:

    1. Eliminating the threat of military conflict throughout the Korean Peninsula, including reducing tensions in the demilitarized zone, and as a consequence, avoiding hostile relations.

    2. Enhancing communication and cooperation based on mutual interests, taking practical measures for the balanced development of the economy.

    3. Strengthening humanitarian cooperation for the fundamental solution of the issue of separated families. 

    4. Active promotion of cooperation and exchanges in various fields so as to enhance the atmosphere of reconciliation and unity and to demonstrate the national spirit.

    5. The necessity to turn the Korean peninsula into a land of peace free from nuclear weapons and threats and to formulate the required tasks for prompt achievement of real progress in this direction, and to cooperate for the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

    Chairman of the Workers’ Party Kim Jong-un is to visit Seoul at an early date at the invitation of President Moon Jae-In.
