    Inauguration of Business Information Center of St.Petersburg in Vienna

    The Business Information Center (BIC) of St.Petersburg was inaugurated in Vienna on May 26, 2009.

    The Business Information Center (BIC) of St.Petersburg was inaugurated in Vienna on May 26, 2009.

    The opening of the center was held within the framework of the session of the Working Group on Cooperation of Russian Regions with Austria at Joint Russian-Austrian Commission on Cooperation in Trade and Economics.

    From the Russian side, BIC was introduced by Yu.Kh. Lukmanov, Chairman of the Housing Committee and the head of St.Petersburg delegation; from the Austrian side, a speech was made by J. M. Sachs, Director General for External Economic Relations of Austrian Federal Ministry of Economics, Co-chairman of the Working Group on Cooperation of Russian Regions with Austria at Joint Russian-Austrian Commission on Cooperation in Trade and Economics.

    The opening was also attended by A.R. Gaskarov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan Government, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Co-chairman of the Working Group on Cooperation of Russian Regions with Austria; the employees of Russian Embassy and the Trade Representation of Russia in Austria; the representatives of Russian regions; and the CEOs of large Austrian companies. Many guests arrived to Vienna from Moscow, St.Petersburg, and the regions of Austria especially for the opening of the Center (Honorary Consul General of Austria in St.Petersburg Thomas Wästfelt among them).

    As part of the BIC opening, a presentation was held concerning the economic potential and investment attractiveness of St.Petersburg.

    The result was the establishment of new business contacts and the first proposals for cooperation received.

    Russian Embassy in Austria gave a reception on the occasion of the opening of the Center, at which the guests were welcomed by S.V. Osadchiy, Ambassador of Russian Federation in Austria.
