    On 1 April 2016, Smolny hosted a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Committee M.M. Sumin and head of the representative's department of engineering and infrastructure development Mr. Miguel Ángel Martín de Pablos

    The meeting was organized in connection with the request of Trade and Economic Office of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Russia. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Construction O.A. Chernyago, director general of Transport Planning Center R.A. Terteryan and the representatives of the Committee for Transport infrastructure of St. Petersburg.

    The meeting was organized in connection with the request of Trade and Economic Office of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Russia.

    The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Construction O.A. Chernyago, director general of Transport Planning Center R.A. Terteryan and the representatives of the Committee for Transport infrastructure of St. Petersburg.

    Trade and Economic Office of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Moscow is in close cooperation with the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) for the promotion of Spanish exports, attracting foreign investments in Spain and the development of cooperation between Spanish and Russian companies and public organizations.           

    During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the ways of developing economic cooperation between St. Petersburg and Spain, including projects related to the implementation of the "Smart City" concept, the creation of "smart" electricity grids and transportation systems, ensuring traffic monitoring, the video surveillance systems' development and etc. They also discussed possible projects related to preparations for the Football World Cup 2018, including the development of the hotel network, infrastructure preparation, maintenance of sports facilities after the event.

    Mr. Martin reported on the intention of the Trade and Economic Office to arrange a business trip to Spain for representatives of public authorities of St. Petersburg and business structures of the city to explore the experiences of cities and regions cooperation with large companies in order to introduce the "Smart City" and sustainable development concept.
