    On October 19-22, a range of cultural and business events aimed at strengthening the cooperation between St. Petersburg and Ireland were held in Dublin and Cork (Ireland)

    Organizers: the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, the City Councils of Dublin and Cork, the Honorary Consul of Ireland in Russia, the Irish Cultural Center in St. Petersburg, State Public Institution “St. Petersburg City Tourist Information Bureau” with support of the Embassy of Ireland in Russia and the Embassy of Russia in Ireland.

    Organizers: the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, the City Councils of Dublin and Cork, the Honorary Consul of Ireland in Russia, the Irish Cultural Center in St. Petersburg, State Public Institution “St. Petersburg City Tourist Information Bureau” with support of the Embassy of Ireland in Russia and the Embassy of Russia in Ireland.

    A round table meeting titled “St. Petersburg-Dublin: dialogue in the business and humanitarian areas” was held at the City Council of Dublin along with a meeting with the Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh. The Hugh Lane Dublin City Gallery hosted a presentation of the historical and cultural ties between St. Petersburg and Ireland prepared and delivered by A.V. Mashinyan, Director of the Irish Cultural Centre in St. Petersburg, along with a concert of a St. Petersburg Celtic harp-player Anastasiya Sergeyeva and an exhibition of Ireland-inspired works by a Russian artist Maxim Pavlov.

    Lectures delivered by the Director of the Irish Cultural Centre in St. Petersburg on Irish-Russian literary ties in the context of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the poet and dramatist W. B. Yeats were held at Trinity College and the National University of Cork. Trinity College also hosted another performance of the St. Petersburg harp-player A. Sergeyeva.

    A meeting of the St. Petersburg delegation with the Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Cork Mick Nugent took place at the City Council of Cork. In the course of the meeting, the parties discussed issues which pertained to the facilitation of cooperation in the areas of culture and tourism. A digital reproduction of the 8th century Insular Gospels from the fund of the National Library of Russia was presented to the City Council of Cork. St. Petersburg corner was opened in the Cork City Library which was presented with literature about St. Petersburg. In return, the Irish Cultural Centre in St. Petersburg received books about Cork as a present from the Cork City Library.
