    On June 2 the traditional Days of Ireland were opened in St. Petersburg.

    The Program of the Days began with a literary and musical event “St. Petersburg-Dublin: Dialogue in the Language of Culture”.

    The ceremony was attended by: V.V. Zapevalov, Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg; I.O. Lonsky, First Vice-Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg; the Honorary Consul of Ireland in St. Petersburg A.P. Shashin, and representatives of St. Petersburg’s cultural and educational establishments cooperating with Ireland. Peter Finnegan, Director of the International Relations Unit at Dublin City Council, delivered a speech for the participants of the event.

    As a part of the event’s program prepared by Irish Culture Center of St. Petersburg State University the guests enjoyed performances and shows of employees of “Garmonia” (Harmony) Personality Development Center and “Maggie Spishly” folk band (Sosnovy Bor), “Red Star” dance school, the concert group of the culture and leisure center at St. Petersburg State University of Economics, pupils of State School № 606 (Pushkin).

    Ireland-inspired paintings of a Russian artist M. Pavlov were available for viewing.
