    On February, 5th a meeting of the St-Petersburg Governor G.S. Poltavchenko with Umit Yardim, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey, took place in Smolny

    The meeting also featured O.A. Markov, the Vice-governor of St-Petersburg, E.D. Grigoriev, the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, and V.V. Zapevalov, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in St-Petersburg.

    In the course of the conversation the parties dwelled upon the high level to which the relationships between Russia and Turkey have developed, as well as upon interaction at the regional level; they discussed the prospects for cooperation and joint projects in the area of economy, culture and tourism.

    The parties agreed to hold a number of events in St-Petersburg and Istanbul in the context of the 25th anniversary of establishing twin-city relationships between St-Petersburg and Istanbul.
