    On May 14, 2014 The Pushkin Central City Children’s Library hosted the conclusion of the competition on translation of the poetic works of English and American poets of the First World War

    The project was organized to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War and as part of the Russia-UK Year of Culture.

    The project was organized to mark the 100th anniversary of the First World War and as part of the Russia-UK Year of Culture.

    The competition attracted about 100 students from secondary and higher educational institutions in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region. The project was organized by Pushkin Central City Children’s Library and Petrovsky College, with assistance from The St. Petersburg Committee for External Relations, The St. Petersburg Association for International Cooperation, The English-Speaking Union, The Prince George Galitzine Memorial Library and the United States Consulate General in St. Petersburg.

    Honorary diplomas and memorable souvenirs were awarded to winners of the competition during the special event. Famous St. Petersburg poet, novelist, and translator Evgeny Lukin attended the awards ceremony.
