On May 19 Participants of the first press tour “Amazing Cities of the Baltic Sea Region: Studying Art, History, Trends and Lifestyle of Hamburg, Warsaw, Helsinki, Riga and St. Petersburg” today visited St. Petersburg.

The goal of the visit was to take the U.S. tourists around the cities of the Baltic Sea Region under the European Union’s project ONE BSR (One Baltic Sea Region). St. Petersburg is participating as an associate member.

The American journalists specializing on tourism visited Tourist Information Centre of Saint Petersburg and were acquainted with the city’s tourism infrastructure.

The tour participants were from Thrillist, GoGirlGuides, National Geographic, JaxFax, Everett Potter and WUWM Public Radio Milwaukee.

The organizers were the St. Petersburg Committee for External Relations and St. Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development under the ONE BSR project with support from ferry operator St.Peter line.

ONE BSR is an international project whose goal is to create an image and identity for the Baltic Sea region and to develop for the whole region a common strategy aimed at promoting the Baltic brand. The project aims to develop tourism cooperation in new international markets, promote activities to attract and retain talents coming from other countries, and to attract investment to the region.

ONE BSR launched an English-language Internet portal “Newswave.eu”, accumulating information about significant events of the cities participating in the project.
