    The Governor Georgy Poltavchenko met with the Speaker of Knesset of Israel Reuven Rivlin in Smolny. 

    Today the Governor Georgy Poltavchenko met with the Speaker of Knesset of Israel Reuven Rivlin in Smolny. Georgy Poltavchenko mentioned that cooperation with Israel plays an important role in the international life of St. Petersburg. It is based on close historical and cultural ties. Commercial and economic relations are steadily developing between Northern Capital and Israel. The trade turnover in 2011 compared to 2010 increased by 1.6 times and amounted to about 150 million USD. The companies of Israel operating in St. Petersburg are engaged in construction, information technology, and medicine.

    The parties expressed interest in sharing experience of cluster economy construction. In this field Israel achieved great success, and this experience is highly demanded in St. Petersburg. Georgy Poltavchenko and Reuven Rivlin also agreed to continue cooperation in the field of cultural and youth exchanges. It is planned that beginning of the next year, the delegation from St. Petersburg will visit Tel Aviv.
