    Canadian Trade Mission led by the Minister of International Trade Visited St.Petersburg

    On June 3 through 5, 2012, a visit to St.Petersburg trade mission led by the Canadian Minister of International Trade, Edward Fast.

    On June 3 through 5, 2012, a visit to St.Petersburg trade mission led by the Canadian Minister of International Trade, Edward Fast.
    The visit included a business briefing with the participation of Russian and Canadian companies operating in the sectors of construction, mining and aerospace industries, on June 4 and 5.
    A list of activities included speeches, presentations, and business talks of business people from St.Petersburg and Canada.

    The trade of St.Petersburg and Canada has a steady trend to increase. In 2011, as compared with 2010, foreign trade volume increased by 39% and made $ 224.2 million. However, in absolute terms, the turnover, as compared with the available capacity, is not very large – Canada occupies the 29th place among the countries – trading partners of the St.Petersburg as of the trade turnover.
    The mutual trade consists mainly of imports. Supplies from Canada are mainly food, meat and fish products, timber, and means of ground transportation.
