The official delegation of Florence (Italy), headed by D.Nardella, Vice-Mayor, visited St.Petersburg on the occasion of X Festival of Contemporary Italian Cinema NICE-2012 scheduled on March 18 through 25.

On March 23,the delegation was received in Smolny by A.M.Petruk, First Deputy Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations. During the meeting, the sides discussed the opportunities of developing the cultural and business cooperation. As D.Nardella has noted, both Florence and St.Petersburg bear the title of the cultural capitals of their countries, which outshines the potential for economic cooperation, and this situation must be changed.

The Vice Mayor said that Florence is the economic center of the region of Tuscany - the large manufacturing companies and pharmaceutical and chemical industries are liocated in the city, and the city is ranked first in Italy in terms of production in light industry.

D.Nardella made a proposal on the participation of St.Petersburg in the project to establish a center for international cooperation in Florence, which is planned to open in one of the historic buildings in the downtown area.
