    The Russian Language Day In Czech Republic

    On March 23, 2012, within the framework of the St.Petersburg Government Program to implement the state policy concerning the compatriots abroad (“The Compatriots” program), the representatives of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations took part in the “Day of the Russian Language” in Town Duchcov (Czech Republic).

    On March 23, 2012, within the framework of the St.Petersburg Government Program to implement the state policy concerning the compatriots abroad (“The Compatriots” program), the representatives of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations took part in the “Day of the Russian Language” in Town Duchcov (Czech Republic).

    The event was organized by the Russian-languaged public Czech organization “Kovcheg-Archa” [The Ark, in Russian and in Czech], jointly with the grammar school and industrial school of Town Duchcov, where the Russian language is taught as a second foreign language. “Day of the Russian language” began with the opening of the photographic exhibition of St.Petersburg and Leningrad Region. S.L.Markov, Deputy Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, said in his welcoming speech about the close collaboration between the Government of St.Petersburg and the organization of the “Ark-Archa” headed by Anatoliy Orlov, lasting for several years, a well as the participation of teachers and school pupils in the activities of the Program “The Compatriots”, and donated to the institution a wall map of St.Petersburg, textbooks and other educational literature about St.Petersburg. Then the grammar school students and teachers showed a pageant “Travel by Train Kaliningrad–Vladivostok”, specially prepared for this day and attended as actors by over 50 people.

    In addition, S.L.Markov had a working conversation with the leadership of the organization “Ark-Archa” and teachers of Russian in high school Town Duchcov, which marked their active work to promote and develop in Czech Republic the Russian language that overcame German last year and became second only to English as per number of grammar school pupils studying foreign languages. Agreed was the continuation of developing the cooperation, including the partnerships with one of St.Petersburg grammar schools.
