    Delegation of the Twin City of Manchester Visited St.Petersburg

    A delegation of Manchester, headed by Lord Mayor H.Lyons, visited St.Petersburg on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of partnership between the two cities.

    A delegation of Manchester, headed by Lord Mayor H.Lyons, visited St.Petersburg on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of partnership between the two cities.

    During the visit, Lord Mayor H.Lyons had a conversation with G.S.Poltavchenko, Governor of St.Petersburg, on March 6. At the meeting, the issues of St.Petersburg and Manchester cooperation were discussed, concerning the business and humanitarian areas.

    The business program of the visit included a round-table discussion at the Administration of Frunzenskiy District to share the experience in the area of digital technologies and e-Government “E-Government: Future or Reality?” The UK Consulate General hosted a round table on “St.Petersburg–Manchester: Mega-Cities of the XXI century: Challenges and Prospects”, devoted to the exchange of experience in the areas of industrial zones regeneration, renovation and usage of the objects of historical and cultural heritage, and development of creativity clusters in the historical centers of the cities. St.Petersburg State University of Telecommunications named after Bonch-Bruevich held a seminar on “Smart City”, while in the techno-park “Ingria” a seminar was run to exchange experience in the area of innovation, aimed at young entrepreneurs and the general public.

    The Delegation of Manchester also took part in the opening of the exhibition “St.Petersburg–Manchester: On the 50th Anniversary of Friendly Relations” at the main building of the National Library, and visited the photo exhibition by R.Copsey, an artist from Manchester, at the art center “Pushkinskaya 10" (Gallery “Art League”).
