    St.Petersburg Develops the Contacts with Shanghai

    I.B.Divinsky noted that Shanghai was the oldest twin city of St.Petersburg in China. Over the years, the relations between the cities turned into a successful and fruitful cooperation in a wide range of areas. A striking example of partnership is the successful implementation of the Shanghai multifunctional complex "Baltic Pearl" in Krasnoselskiy District.

    According to I.B.Divinskiy, Vice-Governor, St.Petersburg Government is interested in increasing contacts with Shanghai in the tourism sector. In support of its intentions, thr city plans to present their tourism opportunities in Shanghai in November 2012.

    Honorable Liu Yungen, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shanghai People’s Congress, noticed that in Shanghai, they appreciated and cherished the friendship with St.Petersburg and the positive results achieved over many years. He gave the thanks of the People's Government of Shanghai for the great help and support of St.Petersburg Government concerning the project "Baltic Pearl", and expressed his hope for further fruitful development of relations between the cities.
