On February 24, 2012, A.V .Prokhorenko, Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations, had a conversation with Giorgos Samouel, Consul General of Cyprus in St.Petersburg.
During this, the issues related to the development of the cooperation agreement between the Government of St.Petersburg and the Municipality of Limassol of Republic of Cyprus were discussed, as well as the prospects for further cooperation between St.Petersburg and Cyprus.

The idea to establish the partnership between St.Petersburg and Limassol was proposed by Antonis Paschalidis, Minister for Trade, Industry, and Tourism of Cyprus in April 2011.
In pursuance of the agreements, the Days of St.Petersburg, organized by St.Petersburg Committee for External Relationsand and Committee for Culture, were held in Limassol on May 4-6, 2011, with the support of Mayor of Limassol and the Government of Cyprus.
Giorgos Samouel was born in the City of Leukosia, Cyprus, on December 14, 1979. After six years with the Foreign Ministry of Cyprus, he was appointed Consul General of Cyprus in St.Petersburg in September 2011
