On December 20, 2011, the premiere of a documentary about the 50th anniversary of the partnership of St.Petersburg and Dresden was in Dresden in the Center for Culture and Media.
During the whole 2011, the film was being prepared for demonstration by a joint creative group of students majoring in journalism at St.Petersburg State University and the students of Saxon universities. The shooting took place alternately in St.Petersburg and Dresden, with the support of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations and the Mayor Office of Dresden. Partners of the project were the Department of Journalism at St.Petersburg State University and the TV studio SAEK of Dresden.
Ralf Luhnau, Second Mayor of Dresden. who attended the presentation of the film, much praised the students’ creative work. During the shooting, the young journalists and documentary filmmakers of the two cities has taken numerous interviews with Petersburger and Dresdeners – both those who once stood at the dawn of partnership and those who are now developing cultural, educational, and economic ties between the two cities.
In 2012, the film will be shown in St.Petersburg as one of the events under the program «Cross–Year of Russia and Germany».
