    Presentation of the Information and Business Center of St.Petersburg in Vilnius

    Within the framework of cooperation of St.Petersburg and the Republic of Lithuania, on December 13 thorough 14, 2011, the events devoted to the presentation of the Information and Business Center of St.Petersburg (IBC) in Vilnius were held in Vilnius and Druskininkai.

    Within the framework of cooperation of St.Petersburg and the Republic of Lithuania, on December 13 thorough 14, 2011, the events devoted to the presentation of the Information and Business Center of St.Petersburg (IBC) in Vilnius were held in Vilnius and Druskininkai.

    Establishing an IBC of St.Petersburg abroad is done with a view to create a positive image of St.Petersburg in foreign countries, to promote the international and external economic relations of our city with the authorities and organizations in other countries.

    The Centers of St.Petersburg abroad are permanent exhibitions informing about St.Petersburg, and providing consulting and marketing services.
    The Concern Achema Group, one of the leaders of the Lithuanian economy that unites over 40 companies operating in various fields, serves as IBC operator in Vilnius. Julius Kraujelis, Consultant at the Concern Achema Group, who served as Consul General of Lithuania in St.Petersburg during 1998–2001, is appointed the Head of the Center.

    St.Petersburg delegation, that included representatives from business, civil society, and executive authorities of St.Petersburg, was headed by S.L.Markov, Deputy Chairman of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations.

    Grand opening of the Center was held at 64 Gedimino St. on December 13.

    After the IBC opening, the seminar was held on the issues of comprehensive cooperation of St.Petersburg and Vilnius, which included the presentations of economic opportunities of the two cities. Particular attention was paid to the development of bilateral relations in tourism, as mentioned in individual performances of the parties.

    In parallel to the seminar, a special issue of the magazine "North Aurora" was presented in the newly-opened IBC office, within the confines of the Program on implementation of the state policy of Russian Federation concerning the compatriots abroad, and the next day, the opportunities of receiving the secondary and higher vocational education in St.Petersburg were discussed at a meeting with the teachers of Russian schools in Vilnius.

    Within the framework of the the visit, the delegation of St.Petersburg had business meetings with Romas Adomavičius, Vice-Mayor of Vilnius, Kristina Miskiniene, Vice Mayor of Druskininkai, and Arunas Laurinaitis, Vice President of Concern Achema Group, during which considerable attention was paid to the running in St.Petersburg the traditional Days of Vilnius in May of 2012.
