    St.Petersburg Governor Met with the President of the Company Managing the Shanghai Port

    On June 8, 2011, Valentina Matvienko met with Mr. Zhu Ge Yuytsze, President of the company managing the Shanghai Port.

    On June 8, 2011, Valentina Matvienko met with Mr. Zhu Ge Yuytsze, President of the company managing the Shanghai Port.

    During the conversation, touched on were the opportunities of close cooperation between St.Petersburg and Shanghai in the stevedoring sector.

    According to Zhu Ge Yuytsze, Shanghai port that became the world’s largest as of container shipping in 2010, has close ties with over 500 companies from 200 countries and looks forward to closer cooperation with the St.Petersburg side in order to increase the volume of traffic that comes to town on the Neva.

    Valentina Matvienko has said that St.Petersburg sees in Shanghai, the oldest twin city in China, a reliable, trusted partner and is interested in comprehensive development and expansion of official and business contacts.

    The Governor emphasized the feasibility of arranging the supply of goods made in China from Shanghai to Russia through the Big Port of St.Petersburg, mentionigg that the city government wa ready to create favorable conditions and provide necessary assistance and support to implement this project.

    As a result of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Managing Company of Shanghai Port and the National Container Company was signed.
