    XII Session of the Finnish-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation

    On March 14, 2011, XII Session of the Finnish-Russian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation was held at the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna, with the participation of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations. The delegation of the Republic of Finland was led by P. Vayryunen, Chairman of the Finnish part of the commission, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development, while the delegation of the Russian Federation was led by S.B. Ivanov, Chairman of the Russian part of the commission, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.

    On March 14, 2011, XII Session of the Finnish-Russian intergovernmental commission for economic cooperation was held at the Konstantinovskiy Palace in Strelna, with the participation of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations.     At the opening session, St.Petersburg Governor V.I. Matvienko made a greeting speech.

    The program of the session was expected to consider the major issues in Russian-Finnish economic relations, including the partnership in the areas of energy, forestry, shipbuilding, telecommunications and information technology, transport and logistics. Also discussed was bilateral cooperation in customs matters, including the development and arrangement of checkpoints at the border.

    The outcome of the session was the signing of a joint declaration on cooperation in modernizing the Russian economy, by the co-chairs of the commission.
