    Festival of Russian Culture in Dublin

    On March 3 through 5, 2011, a delegation of St.Petersburg visited Dublin to participate in the Festival of Russian Culture, organized by the Committee for External Relations. The delegation included representatives of the sectoral committees of the city, organizations and institutions of higher education in St.Petersburg.

    On March 3 through 5, 2011, a delegation of St.Petersburg visited Dublin to participate in the Festival of Russian Culture, organized by the Committee for External Relations. The delegation included representatives of the sectoral committees of the city, organizations and institutions of higher education in St.Petersburg.

    The program held a roundtable discussion on topical issues of interaction between St.Petersburg and Dublin in the area of economy, innovation, science, and higher education, organized with the support of the Russian Embassy in Ireland, Dublin City Council, “Enterprise Ireland”, and Irish-Russian Business Association, with the participation of St.Petersburg and Irish organizations and universities. The meetings with G.Breen, Lord Mayor of Dublin, J.Tierney, Manager of Dublin, and B. Curtis, Head of the Department of innovative technologies, were also organized, as well as with the leadership of one of the largest state agency Ireland to attract investment “IDA Ireland” and the leadership of “Digital Hub Development Agency” .

    As part of the cultural component of the program, a photo exhibition “Ireland in St.Petersburg” was opened in the Atrium of Dublin City Council, organized with the support of A.P. Shashin, Honorary Consul of Ireland, and St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations; the art exhibition “Young Soul Melody” was provided by the NGO “Cultural Center Danko”. Also organized was a demonstration of a documentary from the collections of the St.Petersburg Documentary Film Studio. At the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), a lecture was delivered organized by the Center for Intercultural Communication and International Relations of St.Petersburg GUEF; the Trinity College hosted a lecture organized by the Irish Cultural Center at St.Petersburg State University and Museum of Nabokov with the support of the Committee for External Relations and the Honorary Consul of Ireland in St.Petersburg.

    Recently, the contacts of St.Petersburg and Dublin were being active developed. In May 2008, the Days of St.Petersburg and Dublin were run; in March 2009, the city on the Neva River was visited by E. Byrne, Mayor of Dublin. The delegation of Dublin annually participates in the St.Petersburg International Innovation Forum (PMIF), and the delegation of St.Petersburg participated in the Innovation Festival in Dublin. Within the confines of PMIF 2010, a protocol was signed on the results of negotiations related to partnership and cooperation between St.Petersburg and Dublin.
