    International Festival “Day of Europe”

    On September 25, 2010, St.Petersburg successfully hosted the International Festival “Day of Europe” for the third time.

    On September 25, 2010, St.Petersburg successfully hosted the International Festival “Day of Europe” for the third time.

    Event Organizers: Delegation of the European Union to Russia along with the general consulates, cultural centers of the European Union, and the Information Office of Nordic Council of Ministers.

    At the opening ceremony of the “Day of Europe” at the Hotel Astoria, the welcome speeched were given by Ambassador Fernando Valenzuela, Head of the Delegation of European Union to Russia, and Alexander Vladimirovich Prokhorenko, Member of St.Petersburg Government, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations.

    Within the confines of the “Day of Europe”, public debates and discussions on current topics, open days at the consulates and cultural centers, concerts, exhibitions and competitions and quizzes were held.

    Residents of St.Petersburg were able to enjoy the films produced in Europe at Cinema Centre Rodina, try the dishes of European cuisine at the best restaurants of the town, and even get a free lesson of one of European languages.

    According to the participants and organizers, this year the Festival once again was run on a high note and proved to become increasingly popular with Petersburgers and the guests of our city.
