    Musical and Poetic Evening "Window to Ireland'

    On October 5, 2009 at 18:00, a musical and poetic evening "Window to Ireland" was run in the Central Library named after M.Yu. Lermontov (19 Liteyny Ave), with the support of the Embassy of Ireland in Russia.

    The program of the evening:
    - Rhymes of Irish poet Michael Longley recited by the author;
    - A musical program "Field and His Time" performed by the students of St.Petersburg Musical College named after M.P. Mussorgskiy.

    Reference:

    Michael Longley was born in 1939 in a suburb of Belfast, Northern Ireland. He studied classical philology at Trinity College, Dublin. In 1960s, he joined the so-called "Group", an Irish literary community, the members of which were such great poets as Seamus Heaney, Derek Mahon, James Simmons.

    He ia s winner of several literary prizes, including Whitbread Poetry Prize, T.S. Eliot Prize, and other.
