    Video Conference Session with the Center of Russian Culture in Tallinn, on the Occasion of Opening the Center for Information and Education «Russian Museum: a Virtual Affiliation» in the Estonian Capital

    A session of a video conference with the Center of Russian Culture in Tallinn was held in the Hall of the State Council at Mikhaylovsky Palace of the State Russian Museum, on the occasion of opening the Center for Information and Education «Russian Museum: a Virtual Affiliation» in the Estonian capital on March 26, 2009.

    A session of a video conference with the Center of Russian Culture in Tallinn was held in the Hall of the State Council at Mikhaylovsky Palace of the State Russian Museum, on the occasion of opening the Center for Information and Education «Russian Museum: a Virtual Affiliation» in the Estonian capital on March 26, 2009.

    The project «Russian Museum: a Virtual Affiliation» is a long-term program concerning the establishing in Russian cities and abroad an integrated network of multimedia centers that would use digital materials, created as a result of scientific, educational and methodical efforts of the leading experts of Russian Museum. The project aims to familiarize the wide audience with the values of Russian culture, and to expand and deepen the knowledge of Russian art history, as well as of the collections and activities of Russian Museum. Participants of the project are museums, universities, institutions of culture and extra education.

    Currently, 45 centers for information and education «Russian Museum: a Virtual Affiliation» are opened on the basis of institutions of culture and education; among them, 38 are located in Russian towns while seven are located abroad. The center for information and education of Russian Museum in Tallinn is the second of the kind in Estonia (the first one was opened on the basis of the Central Library of Town Kohtla-Jarve in October, 2005).

    The videoconference was attended by V. Gusev, Director of the State Russian Museum, N. Kuleshova, Deputy Director of Russian Museum on Scientific Research, Yu. Polyakov, Director of the Center of Russian Culture in Tallinn, N. Uspenskiy, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia in Estonia, Kristen Lahtein, Consul General of Estonia in St.Petersburg, Anne-Ly Reimaa, Vice-Chancellor of the Ministry for Culture of Estonia, Toomas Vitsut, Chairman of Tallinn City Assembly, N. Strugova, Principal Expert at the Committee for External Relations, V. Fedorova, Chairman of St.Petersburg Society of Estonian Culture, J. Tuisk, writer, and the deputies of Estonian Parliament.
