    A number of important meetings and negotiations at various levels with delegations of Russian regions and foreign cities took place within the framework of the XXIII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

    On June 6-8, Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov held a series of meetings with leaders of Russian regions. At the end of the meeting, several cooperation documents were signed.

    Briefly about the meetings:
    At a meeting with the Governor of Kuzbass Sergey Tsivilev, the introduction of innovative technologies of social services and the development of cooperation between medical organizations of the regions were discussed. Following the meeting, the Agreement between the Government of St. Petersburg and the Government of the Kemerovo Region - Kuzbass on trade and economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural cooperation, as well as a Plan for its implementation for 2019-2024, was first signed.

    The roadmap for trade, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between St. Petersburg and the Oryol region for 2019-2021 was signed following the meeting between Alexander Beglov and the Governor of the region Andrei Klychkov. Among the priority areas of interaction are health care, science and education, training, tourism, the IT sector.

    Deliveries of agricultural products were discussed at a meeting of Alexander Beglov with the head of the Republic of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Evkurov. Petersburg, in turn, offers products of pharmaceutical enterprises, and is also ready to provide the right to free testing of medical equipment of St. Petersburg production.

    The northern capital intends to strengthen ties with all regions in the field of culture and to develop domestic tourism.

    In the framework of the meeting with the Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov, an agreement was signed between St. Petersburg and the Kaliningrad Region on cooperation in the field of sea cruise tourism. The agreement provides for interaction in the creation of a domestic shipping passenger company, which will attract an additional stream of both Russian and foreign guests. Ships will call at all the main ports of the Baltic, including Kaliningrad.

    On June 6, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg Vyacheslav Kalganov met with the Governor of Okinawa Prefecture (Japan), Mr. Yasuhiro Danny Tamaki.
    The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant committees of the Administration of St. Petersburg (Committee on Industrial Policy and Innovation of St. Petersburg, Committee on Culture of St. Petersburg, Committee on Physical Culture and Sports and Committee on Tourism Development of St. Petersburg).
    The parties discussed the possibility of establishing cooperation in the field of sports, culture and tourism.
    The Japanese side was also given information about the project of building the Martial Arts Center in St. Petersburg to consider the possibility of attracting investors from Okinawa Prefecture.
    For reference: The prefecture is famous all over the world for its beautiful nature and traditions of karate martial art. Athletes from St. Petersburg have already taken part in the WKF “Karate 1 - Premier league” international karate competitions in Okinawa.

    On June 7, a meeting was held between the chairman of the Committee on External Relations of St. Petersburg, Evgeny Grigoriev, and the First Deputy Minister of Economics and Climate of the Netherlands, Mr. Maarten Kamps.
    During the meeting, the parties discussed the agenda for the Fifth meeting of the Cooperation Council of St. Petersburg and Rotterdam, which will be held in September 2019.
    For reference: St. Petersburg and Rotterdam have been partner cities since 1966. In order to intensify relations between various interested professional and social groups in 2013, by the decision of the leaders of the two cities, the Council for Cooperation of St. Petersburg and Rotterdam was created.
    Among the areas of interaction with Rotterdam that are of most interest to St. Petersburg are the development of bicycle infrastructure, hydraulic engineering, the operation and maintenance of artificial structures and bulk territories.
