On May 27, 2019, a delegation of representatives of the Cuban healthcare and pharmacology sector, led by the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Cuba, Ms. Marcia Cobas Ruiz, visited St. Petersburg.
Within the framework of the visit, negotiations were held with representatives of the Administration of St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg pharmaceutical companies, field trips were organized, and a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cuba and CJSC Biocad was signed, involving, in particular, the supply of St. Petersburg drugs for the treatment of cancer diseases.
From the Administration of St. Petersburg representatives of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, the Committee for Industrial Policy and Innovation of St. Petersburg and the Committee for Health participated in negotiations on bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare and pharmacology. Biocad CJSC, Geropharm LLC, Cluster of Medical, Environmental Instrumentation and Biotechnology, ''Union of Medical and Pharmaceutical Projects. XXI Century" were among the representatives of specialized enterprises of the city.
The parties discussed the prospects of expanding cooperation in the field of scientific research, technology transfer, supply of pharmaceutical products of St. Petersburg enterprises to Cuba, and certification of Cuban drugs in Russia.
The Cuban side expressed interest in the products manufactured by the Cluster of Medical, Environmental Instrumentation and Biotechnology and expressed its readiness to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation with this organization.
A promising area of cooperation with Cuba in the field of healthcare was also called cooperation in the field of primary health care.
The Cuban delegation also visited two St. Petersburg enterprises: Biocad CJSC in the Special Economic Zone of St. Petersburg (Neudorf) and Geropharm LLC.
