    On 04-06 December mobile advanced qualification courses for Russian language and Literature teachers were conducted in Dushanbe (Republic of Tajikistan)

    Organized by the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg as part of the implementation the Russian Federation state policy regarding the Ethnic Russian abroad by the Government of St. Petersburg.

    The objective of the Project is professional development of Russian language and Literature teachers as well as introducing advanced methods for teaching these subjects.

    The classes were organized at the Russian Center for Science and Culture premises (Rossotrudnichestvo representation office) the as lectures and workshops.

    Themes of the lectures that were held: 1) Functional styles and types of texts at Russian as a Foreign Language lesson; 2) Authentic speech situations at Russian as a Foreign Language lesson; 3) Discussion as authentic speech situations at Russian as a Foreign Language lesson; 4) Text categories at Russian as a Foreign Language lesson.

    Subjects of the workshops concerned working methods of a Russian as a Foreign Language teacher with foreign language speakers, matters of preparing a project for an audience (using lesson drafts “Russian Cuisine Traditions” and “Knowing and Loving One’s Land.  A Trip to Baikal” as examples).

     Training sessions resulted in creative projects presented by teachers in working groups.

    In addition, the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg donated over 200 books including instructional guides and fiction to the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Dushanbe. Part of the books will be used in the Center’s activities and part of them will be handed over to ethnic Russians, students, lecturers and teachers. 

    Upon completion of the courses the trainees have received advanced qualification certificates.
