    British WW II Veterans from the Club "Russian Convoy" Visited St.Petersburg

    On May 3 through 5, 2010, a delegation of British veterans from the club "Russian Convoy" paid a visit to St.Petersburg, devoted to the 65th anniversary of victory in World War II.

    On May 3 through 5, 2010, a delegation of British veterans from the club "Russian Convoy" paid a visit to St.Petersburg, devoted to the 65th anniversary of victory in World War II.

    From the Russian side, the visit was arranged by St.Petersburg Regional Public Organization "Arctic Convoy" and the St.Petersburg Association for International Cooperation, with the assistance of St.Petersburg Committee for External Relations.
    From the British side, the project was supported by the British Consulate General in St.Petersburg.

    Within the framework of the program, the British veterans took part in the march around the memorable places of St.Petersburg Fame Maritime, with laying the wreaths in memory of sailors who perished during the World War II; in laying the wreaths at the memorial Piskarevskoe Cemetery; and lessons of memory in the schools of St.Petersburg. The delegation also took part in opening the exhibition "Allies of anti-Hitler Coalition in the Fight against Fascism" at the Presidential Library named after B.N. Yeltsin.

    On May 12 through 14, a visit to St.Petersburg of the second delegation of veterans from the club "Russian Convoy" is planned.
