    St.Petersburg Hosted the Northern Forum for Security Policy

    On April 26 through 27, 2010, St.Petersburg hosted the Northern Forum for Security Policy organized by the Finnish Committee for European Security (STETE), with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, the Ministry of Environment of Finland and the Nordic Council of Ministers.

    On April 26 through 27, 2010, St.Petersburg hosted the Northern Forum for Security Policy organized by the Finnish Committee for European Security (STETE), with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, the Ministry of Environment of Finland and the Nordic Council of Ministers.

    The Forum topic was «Freedom, Security and Justice – the Common Interests in the Baltic Sea Region».

    At the Forum, the problems of political and public security were discussed that were common for the countries of the region, while the representatives of the political elites of the region and members of social organizations share their views and made proposals for a possible partnership.

    On April 26, a gala opening of the Forum took place, at which a report on the collaboration of St.Petersburg with the Baltic Sea region countries was made by A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations.

    Greetings were also addressed to the audience by K. Kiuru, Member of the Parliament of Finland and Head of the Finnish Committee for European Security, A. von Scheigberg, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, K. Gestrin, Chairman of the Parliamentary Conference of the Baltic Sea, and M. Boedecker, Director of the Information Bureau of Nordic Council of Ministers in St.Petersburg.
