    Stefan Herms, Head of International Department at the Office of Hamburg Senate, Visited St.Petersburg

    On April 16, 2010, A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, had at Smolny a conversation with Stefan Herms, Head of the International Department at the Office of Hamburg Senate. Stefan Herms' arrival to St.Petersburg is timed to the “Week of Germany 2010” in order to participate in related events and negotiate on cooperation of partner cities.

    On April 16, 2010, A.V. Prokhorenko, Chairman of the Committee for External Relations, had at Smolny a conversation with Stefan Herms, Head of the International Department at the Office of Hamburg Senate. Stefan Herms' arrival to St.Petersburg is timed to the “Week of Germany 2010” in order to participate in related events and negotiate on cooperation of partner cities.

    The meeting in Smolny was also attended by the representatives of the Faculty of Journalism at the University of Hamburg.

    One of the issues discussed was the assistance to the exchange of young journalists - students majoring in journalism at the University of Hamburg and St.Petersburg State University. Another promising form of cooperation could also be telebridges between Hamburg and St.Petersburg based on the facilities of the media studio at the Faculty of Journalism of St.Petersburg State University.

    The negotiators confirmed the great interest in keeping contacts between experts in the areas of labour market , environmental protection, and the prevention of emergency situations, of both cities.

    The parties also discussed prospects of prolonging the cooperation with the Hamburg branch of the German charity organization “Diakonia”.

    At the meeting, it was agreed to intensify the joint architectural project “Hamburgskaya Square” and to hold a presentation of works by young architects concerning the landscaping of this square located within Frunzenskiy District, for the relevant services of the city, responsible for shaping the architectural appearance of St.Petersburg.
