On May 24, a delegation of official and business circles of Chongqing headed by Ms. Li Jin, member of the Chongqing Chinese Communist Party Standing Committee and the head of the Chongqing United Front Regional Office, visited St. Petersburg.
In Smolny, the delegation was received by the chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, Yevgeny Grigoryev. The parties discussed the organization of direct flights between St. Petersburg and Chongqing, the participation of companies from Chongqing in the implementation of investment projects in St. Petersburg, cooperation in the sphere of culture and tourism, as well as the organization of the visit of the delegation of St. Petersburg to Chongqing in IV quarter of 2019.
Yevgeny Grigoryev noted that it is very important that the dialogue between St. Petersburg and Chongqing is carried out systematically. So, the current meeting was organized in continuation of existing agreements with the mayor of Chongqing, Mr. Tan Liangzhi, which were reached during his visit to St. Petersburg in July last year. Among the promising areas, the establishment of the supply of large-capacity catamarans of the Middle Nevsky Shipyard for the needs of cruise tourism in Chongqing was noted. “As far as I know, interest in St. Petersburg products was shown by the Yangtze Gold River Cruise Tourism Corporation. I hope that the negotiations of the partners will end with the signing of cooperation agreements in the very near future”, said E. D. Grigoriev.
For reference: The Yangtze River cruise route is one of the most popular tourist sites to visit.
Ms. Li Jin, in her turn, confirmed the interest and willingness of the People's Government of Chongqing to continue cooperation with St. Petersburg. As the next important step in bilateral relations, Chongqing will provide comprehensive assistance in organizing the visit of the delegation of St. Petersburg. In addition, Ms. Li Jin invited representatives of the St. Petersburg industry to take part in the Smart Technologies international exhibition, which will be held in Chongqing this August.
Also, as part of the visit, a round table on bilateral trade and economic cooperation was held at the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Presentations of St. Petersburg and Chongqing companies in the spheres of jurisprudence, food and biological industries, as well as automobile companies took place.
