On May 23, 2019 a meeting between the Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, E.D. Grigoryev, and the newly appointed Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, B. B. Dosmanbetov, was held in Smolny.
Issues of bilateral cooperation between St. Petersburg and the Republic of Kazakhstan were discussed within the framework of the meeting.
Particular attention was paid to the preparation of the cultural and business mission of St. Petersburg to Alma-Ata in November 2019.

Dosmanbetov Bauyrzhan Bakbergenovich worked in the diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan in the Czech Republic, China, Azerbaijan. On May 16, 2019, he was appointed Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in St. Petersburg.

At the end of 2018, the trade turnover of St. Petersburg with the Republic of Kazakhstan increased by 8% and amounted to 914.9 million US dollars (15th place among the countries - trading partners of St. Petersburg).
In 2018, $ 122.5 million worth of goods were imported to St. Petersburg from the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is 2.2 times more than in 2017 (35th place among countries importing to St. Petersburg).
In 2018, compared to 2017, exports to the Republic of Kazakhstan remained virtually unchanged and amounted to $ 792.4 million (7th place among countries exporting from St. Petersburg).
On May 6, 2019, a monument to the hero of the Soviet Union Aliya Moldagulova, a native of Kazakhstan, was opened in St. Petersburg.
In the fall of 2019, the humanitarian and business mission of St. Petersburg to the Republic of Kazakhstan is planned. Within the framework of the mission it is planned to conduct a business program with the participation of representatives of enterprises and organizations of St. Petersburg interested in bilateral cooperation developing. Dates of the mission are currently under approval.
