At the presentation of the open Internet project Open Petersburg, the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the competition, director of the North-Western Institute of Management Vladimir Shamakhov said: "Seeing the growing attention to the Petersburg Official competition, we decided to go ahead and launch the Open Internet project Petersburg." The idea is to create a tool for citizens to directly evaluate the performance of the government".

The purpose of the competition is to involve the residents of the city and the region in the decision-making process of the authorities and to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in specific areas.

According to V. Shamakhov, the government has long been trying to create an adequate mechanism that allows it to understand how well it works, but it is necessary for its activities to be assessed by the society.

Igor Murashev, Deputy Chairman of the State Service and Personnel Policy Committee of the Governor's Administration of St. Petersburg, is confident that the idea of the Open Petersburg Internet project has a good perspective: “We will closely monitor the voting process and are ready, including, to not very pleasant reviews because they help to see problems ... so we can understand what is necessary and important in this area. External evaluation is needed. ”

Any resident of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region can express their opinion on the living conditions in their area on the site открытыйпетербург.рф according to eight criteria: ecology, landscaping, accessibility of education, health care, housing and public utilities, transport infrastructure, safety and leisure activities. A feedback service is also available to all visitors to the site, allowing them to send their proposals for the development of the area and its improvement.

The founder and operator of Open Petersburg is the North-West Institute of Management of the Presidential Academy (RANEPA) with the support of the Administration of the Governor of St. Petersburg and the Government of the Leningrad Region.

The project involves 18 districts and 111 municipalities of St. Petersburg, as well as 17 districts, one urban district and 199 settlements of the Leningrad region.

Olga Kazansanskaya, Deputy Director of the North-West Institute of Management, noted that the “Open Petersburg” will make it possible to reveal the effectiveness of the officials' efforts. “From the point of view of openness, St. Petersburg is one of the first in the country. Today, officials are required, in addition to the so-called hard skills - technical skills, the ability to establish communication with citizens. In the North-West Institute of Management, they understand this and are already preparing young specialists who will change the perception of managers and our city for the better, ”said O.A. Kazanskaya.

It will be on the international public forum “Public Administration”. At the same time, it’s not a problem.
