On March 29, Vyacheslav Kalganov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg, met with the Deputy Director of the Department of education and training of the People's Committee of the city of Ho Chi Minh city, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg international educational forum. During the conversation, comrade. Hieu shared his impressions of St. Petersburg and the program of the Educational forum in which he took part. The head of the Vietnamese delegation said that education reform is currently being carried out in Ho Chi Minh city to improve the learning process, and the Forum provided new ideas for the implementation of these tasks. The information received at the plenary meeting would be very useful for implementation.
Also comrade Hieu noted that the Vietnamese people are close and interested in Russian culture and Soviet heritage, but at school students can only "in absentia" to get acquainted with it. But nothing compares to the opportunity to personally visit St. Petersburg, meet interesting people and more imbued with the history and culture of the city and the country as a whole.
In this regard, it was proposed to expand cooperation between the two cities in the field of education, in order to approve the practice of systematic exchange of specialized delegations.
In response, Vyacheslav Kalganov confirmed St. Petersburg's readiness to strengthen ties through education. "It is rightly said that the future belongs to young people, – he said. – That is why we believe it is important to create conditions for communication between schoolchildren and young people from St. Petersburg and Vietnam."
In this regard, V. G. Kalganov proposed to develop and sign an agreement on cooperation between the educational departments of our cities, in which to specify a point for the exchange of delegations of teachers and thereby lay the Foundation for joint work in this direction.
He also invited comrade. Hieu take part in the Days of Ho Chi Minh city in St. Petersburg, which are scheduled for 17 - 19 may 2019.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the Vietnamese delegation thanked the Government of St. Petersburg and the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg for their willingness to cooperate and expressed confidence in the successful implementation of all plans.
