    On March 27 - 28, 2019, the VIII Russian-Kyrgyz interregional conference was held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan).

    The organizers are the Ministry of economic development of Russia and the Ministry of economy of Kyrgyzstan.

    The event was attended by more than 800 people – representatives of public authorities, business, science and culture from Kyrgyzstan and 18 subjects of the Russian Federation.

    During the conference, a representative of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg made a report on the prospects of bilateral cooperation between St. Petersburg and Kyrgyzstan.

    She spoke about the successes in the field of humanitarian cooperation. The intergovernmental Commission between the Government of St. Petersburg and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic has been operating for more than ten years. The most active cooperation is developing in the field of education and science.

    The organization of supply of high-quality agricultural food products to the market of St. Petersburg was named among the promising directions. The representative of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg invited interested parties to cooperate and establish contacts.

    The possibilities of cooperation in the sphere of industry within the framework of the project "St. Petersburg-the center of fashion and light industry" were also highlighted.

    In addition, during the visit, the representative of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg met with representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Trade mission of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of economy of the Kyrgyz Republic and the mayor's office of Bishkek. They discussed various aspects of bilateral relations between St. Petersburg and the Kyrgyz Republic in the near future.

    On the sidelines of the conference, the Protocol of the 10th meeting of the intergovernmental Commission between the Government of St. Petersburg and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic was signed. Minister of education and science of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulmira kudaiberdieva signed the Protocol from Kyrgyzstan. On behalf of St. Petersburg the document was signed by the Chairman of the Committee for external relations of St. Petersburg Evgeny Grigoriev.

    The main event of the conference on March 28, 2019 was the plenary session and high-level talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
