The evening is dedicated to the Day of unity of the peoples of Belarus and Russia and organized with the support of the President of the Foundation "Creative world" Vyacheslav Zarenkov.
Veterans of the great Patriotic war who participated in the liberation of the BSSR, members of public organizations of the city, the Belarusian national and cultural autonomy, residents of the city were invited as spectators.
Guests were read a welcome speech on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee on external relations of St. Petersburg Evgeny Grigoriev. "Relations with the Republic of Belarus have always been and remain one of the priorities of foreign economic and international activities of the city Government, – the greeting said. – Belarus consistently ranks first in terms of trade turnover with St. Petersburg among the CIS countries, and this year it ranks fifth among the main foreign trade partners of our city."
Igor Zalomay, head of the Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation, also made a welcoming speech.
The festive concert was attended by honoured collective of Republic of Belarus "Symphony orchestra of Maladechna state musical College named after M. K. Oginsky" under the direction of conductor Gregory Soroko – honored worker of culture of the Republic of Belarus and St. Petersburg pianist Andrei Baranenko, laureate of international and all-Russian competitions. They performed works by foreign, Russian and Belarusian composers, including the St. Petersburg composer, a native of Belarus Leonid Levashkevich.
