    St. Petersburg delegation takes part in the activities of EuroSkills European Championship for professional skills

    On 27 September 2018 St. Petersburg delegation arrived at the Hungarian capital – Budapest for official visit. The delegation was composed of Vice Governor Vladimir Kirillov, Chair of Committee for Education Zhanna Vorobieva and heads of professional training institutions.

    In the course of their visit, the representatives of St. Petersburg side participate in the activities of EuroSkills European Championship for professional skills with the aim of exploring best practices of holding international competitions as well as presenting St. Petersburg as EuroSkills 2022 host city.  

    European Championship for professional skills which began in Budapest on 26 September has become the largest over the 10 years of its realization. More than 600 competitors from 29 countries are involved in the Competition. The Russian national team was represented by 48 participants from 17 regions including St. Petersburg. Their participation in the Competition comprises 41 competences.

    Today, Vice Governor Vladimir Kirillov visited the Competition venue at Hungexpo Fair Center and surveyed the conditions provided for competitors. He also had a meeting with Robert Urazov, Director General of the Union “Agency for Professional Communities and Skilled Labor Development “Young Professionals”, and discussed with him preparations for Euroskills 2022 in St. Petersburg.  

    Further, as part of the official visit of the St. Petersburg delegation, a meeting was held between Vice Governor Vladimir Kirillov and Deputy Mayor of Budapest Gábor Bagdy. Vladimir Kirillov congratulated Mr. Bagdy on the successful organization of the European Championship for professional skills and underlined that relations with the partner-city of Budapest remain one of the key priorities for St. Petersburg.

    “We have a lot of interesting projects in various areas ahead, which means that a great joint work awaits us. A Budapest delegation headed by Mayor Mr. Tarlós is staying in St. Petersburg with an official visit on these dates. I am convinced that activities and negotiations scheduled within the visit would continue the positive dynamic course of our collaboration”, Vice Governor emphasized.   

    The sides devoted special attention to the humanitarian area while discussing matters relating to further cooperation.

    In addition to the business program of the visit the St. Petersburg delegation participated in the flower-laying ceremony to the Memorial to the Soviet Soldiers-Liberators at Kerepisi Cemetery.

    EuroSkills Competition Championship is the largest professional skills competition for young people up to 25 years of age in Europe. It is held biennially in one of the 29 WorldSkills Europe participating countries.

    The Russian national team ranked 1st in the team evaluation at the previous Euroskill of 2016 by winning 5 medals and 11 medallions for their expertise. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian team on the victory.
