    On 28-29 September 2018 Days of Budapest (Hungary) were held in St. Petersburg

    The Events were organized with the support of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg and the Consulate General of Hungary in St. Petersburg as part of development bilateral cooperation between the Government of St. Petersburg and the Municipality of Budapest.

    The delegation of the Municipality of Budapest headed by the Mayor of Hungarian capital István Tarlós visited St. Petersburg to participate in the Events.

    On 28 September the Governor of St. Petersburg G.S. Poltavchenko met with the Mayor of Budapest I. Tarlós in Smolny. During the conversation, the leaders of the two cities commended on the positive dynamic in the development of interaction between St. Petersburg and Budapest. Such directions as archive business, sport exchanges, cultural cooperation and tourism were mentioned. The sides also agreed to develop further collaboration in school exchanges, to learn about the experiences in restoration, logistics and water supply.     

    Presentations of tourist and cultural potential of Budapest were held as part of the Days of Budapest. 

    Thus, on 28 September 2018 a round table ‘Budapest-Hungary’ was organized at Astoria Hotel that was devoted to development of collaboration in tourism. St. Petersburg tourism industry and media representatives took part in the discussions. At the round table, the Hungarian experts made ‘Magnificent Budapest and Salutary Hungary’ presentation on tourism opportunities in Budapest and Hungarian thermal spa resorts. Upon the completion of the round table, a B2B workshop was conducted where St. Petersburg tour operators have negotiated promotion of cooperation with their Hungarian colleagues.

    Budapest City Archive experts learned about the work carried out by Sy. Petersburg leading archival institutions under the dialogue on archival business. The experts from the Hungarian capital visited St. Petersburg Central State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation, Central State Historical Archive, St. Petersburg Central State Archive of Documentary Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings and St. Petersburg Central State Archive of Historical and Political Documents.

    On 28-29 September St. Petersburg State Academic Capella hosted ‘Budapest – the Four Seasons Capital’ Photo Exhibit. The Exhibit displayed shots by professional Hungarian photographers depicting Budapest sightseeing attractions and its famous historical and touristic sites.    

    Concert by Hungarian traditional music group Erdőfű (Woodland Grass) that took place on the stage of St. Petersburg State Academic Capella on 28 September has become the highlight of the Days. St. Petersburg audience was introduced to pieces of folk music from different regions of Hungary.
