On 01-02 October 2018 within the Third Japan-Russia Joint Microwave Workshop held at St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University (ETU‘LETI’), St. Petersburg and Japanese experts discussed advanced developments and new trends in development of microwave engineering and technology.
Scientific reports were presented by Japanese participants from Tohoku University, Okayama Prefectural University, Kagoshima University, University of Hyogo and TOSHIBA Company.
Advanced achievements of ETU ‘LETI’ researchers were presented at the seminar by the University departments and research centers that conduct research in the field of microwave engineering and technology including Department of Microelectronics & Radio Engineering, Department of Radio-technical Engineering, Department of Physical Electronics and Technology and Engineering Center for Microtechnology and Diagnostics (EC CMD).
The seminar was opened on 1 October at 10:00 at the videoconference room of Block 5 of ETU ‘LETI’. The seminar was conducted in breakout sessions: Active Microwave Components and Devices; Advanced Materials, Components and Applications; Power Dividers, Antennas and Radars. English was the working language at the seminar.
The cooperation growing over the years between Tohoku University and St. Petersburg ETU ‘LETI’ served as the basis for the organization of annual Japan-Russia Workshop. The idea to conduct such a seminar belonged to Prof. Noriharu Suematsu, Head of the Advanced Wireless Information Technology Laboratory at Tohoku University, and Prof. Dmitry Kholodnyak from the Department of Microelectronics & Radio Engineering of ETU ‘LETI’.
Reference regarding the history of the seminars:
The first Japan-Russia Scientific Workshop was held at ETU ‘LETI’ in June 2016. Japan was represented there by Tohoku University, Osaka University, Kagoshima University and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Representatives of three ETU ‘LETI’ departments presented their reports at the Event.
The second Japan-Russia Joint Microwave Workshop was held in October 2017 at Tohoku University. It attracted representatives of three ETU ‘LETI’ departments and seven Japanese universities and research centers.
