The meeting was attended by Consul General of Turkey to St. Petersburg Yu. Belet, President of Russian-Turkish Business Association N. Karaaslan and representatives of major Turkish companies.

As stressed by S.L. Markov, St. Petersburg and the Republic of Turkey have substantial experience in implementing joint projects in constructing facilities for transport, hotel and business infrastructure.

Foreign trade turnover between St. Petersburg and Turkey shows positive development. Thus, the volume of mutual trade nearly doubled according to the results of the first six months of the current year.

S.L. Markov believes that the Russia-Turkey Cross-Year of Culture and Tourism in 2019 would positively provide a strong boost to increase interaction in the humanitarian area further.

In response, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Russia Hüseyin Diriöz noted that he sees a lot of potential in bilateral business cooperation. Additional opportunities for that are provided by the Agreement signed recently between Russian-Turkish Business Association and St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In conclusion of the meeting the sides shared the view of the necessity to increase business interaction and identified investment activities, pharmaceutical industry, automotive industry and exchanges of experience in tourism training as the priority directions.
