Today, on 22 November Smolny hosted the meeting between Deputy Chairman of Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg Vyacheslav Kalganov and the delegation of political and governmental leaders of Ho Chi Minh City headed by Chairman of Internal Policies Department of the Communist Party of Vietnam City Committee Comr. Chan The Lyu.
In the course of the conversation, the sides discussed a possibility of creating a forecasting center aimed at drafting the strategy for social and economic development of the cities as well as prospects of applying intelligent management system of Smart City project, introducing electronic document management system, etc.
As noted by Deputy Chairman of Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg Vyacheslav Kalganov, cooperation between St. Petersburg and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has increased substantially in recent years. It is attested by an increasing number of visits by high-level delegations and by conducting major joint activities.
In particular, St. Petersburg and Vietnam have arranged large-scale celebrations of the 95-th anniversary of the first visit by Comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc (Ho Chi Minh) to Petrograd, two exhibitions and a scientific conference were held, there was an exchange of delegations.
“The Events raised a great response in Vietnamese and Russian media and have marked the next step in strengthening Russian-Vietnamese friendship”, V.G. Kalganov concluded.
Members of the Ho Chi Minh delegation in their turn reiterated the great importance attached by Vietnam to cooperation with Russia and St. Petersburg.
It was pointed out that St. Petersburg has excellent competence in information technology.
“We estimate highly the efficient and advanced city security system that has been amply demonstrated during Football World Cup successfully held this year’, said the Chairman of Internal Policies Department of the Communist Party of Vietnam City Committee Comr. Chan The Lyu.
The Vietnamese side also thanked the Government of St. Petersburg for the reception of the delegation of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications led by the Department Director Comrade Duong Anh Duc in September this year. During the visit in September the work of Command Center, Our Petersburg Portal and 112 Emergency Call Center was presented to the Vietnamese delegation. The delegation representatives were briefed on Safe City Complex and video surveillance system in St. Petersburg. They saw the demonstration of City Monitoring Center operations and were informed of high technology used by State Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal of St. Petersburg and techno park of ITMO University (presentation of Smart City project), and presentations of Russian IT companies were made.
