On the part of St. Petersburg, the meeting was held by the special representative of the Governor of St. Petersburg on the development of state construction and interaction with the subjects of the Russian Federation Sergey Katanandov. The External Affairs Committee of St. Petersburg was presented by the deputy Chairman Vyacheslav Kalganov.
The Vietnamese delegation was headed by the Secretary of the Communist Youth Unionn n.a. Ho Shi Minh, Hoshiminh city, the President of Vietnam youth Federation of Hoshiminh com. Pham Hong Shon.
S. L. Katanandov noted that in recent years the relations between St. Petersburg and Vietnam have significantly intensified. So, if in 2015 and 2016 only 2 high-ranking delegations visited the Northern capital, in 2017 and 2018 the city on the Neva river received 30 delegations, including 5 members of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President and the Vice-President of the country.
In 2018 in St. Petersburg and Hoshiminh city was organized a number of events dedicated to the common anniversary – the 95th anniversary of the first visit of comrade Nguyen Ay Kuok (Hoshiminh) in Petrograd.
According to Sergey Katanandov, bilateral cooperation between the partner cities of St. Petersburg and Hoshiminh city will give an even greater impetus by the Cross-year of Russia and Vietnam announced in 2019.
"Next year we are preparing to hold even more large-scale events within the framework of the project initiated by us "Spiritual heritage of Ho Shi Minh. 50 years later." We intend to hold a number of separate events, including business, cultural, scientific and educational ones. In addition, we are planning two Russian-Vietnamese youth forums," the special representative of the Governor of St. Petersburg on the development of state construction and cooperation with the subjects of the Russian Federation said.
In response com. Pham Hong Shon thanked the government of St. Petersburg for the warm welcome and confirmed, for his part, the readiness to develop cooperation through the youth movement.
