    The delegation of the province of Khanh Hoa (Socialist Republic of Vietnam) visited St. Petersburg on August 23-24

    The Vietnamese delegation was headed by the chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province Le Duc Vinh.

    During the visit to Smolny, the acting governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Govorunov, held the meeting with the head of the Vietnamese delegation, the chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, Le Duc Vinh.

    During the conversation, A.Govorunov noticed that St. Petersburg is ready to expand cooperation with Vietnam in the area of civil shipbuilding and construction of port infrastructure. The city can help partners in the development of the mining industry, the implementation of projects in the pharmaceutical industry, water supply and sanitation. Among the priorities, the development of tourism was also mentioned.

    Alexander Govorunov and Le Duc Vinh agreed that in order to increase the tourist flow, it is necessary to launch a direct flight between St. Petersburg and Vietnam.

    Moreover, the Vietnamese side expressed its readiness to organize an orientation tour for St. Petersburg tour operators and announced the desire to cooperate more actively in the preparation of guides-translators who work with Russian tourists in Vietnam.

    During the conversation, a high level of cooperation in the field of science and higher education was noted. At present, St. Petersburg universities and scientific organizations have more than 25 partnership agreements with leading universities and scientific organizations of Vietnam. In addition, our city has a unique - the first in the world outside of Vietnam - the Ho Chi Minh Institute. Significant scientific conferences are held on its basis and educational work is conducted.

    Taking into account a wide range of promising areas for interaction, Alexander Govorunov and Le Duc Vinh confirmed their readiness to sign a new cooperation agreement between St. Petersburg and Khanh Hoa province, which would allow continuing the work begun in the framework of the agreement signed in 2007. To ensure effective interaction, the new document was agreed to be accompanied by a "road map" with concrete activities. At the end of the meeting, a protocol that consolidated the agreements was signed.

    Also during the visit on August 24, the Khanh Hoa delegation visited the Vodokanal of St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise, where negotiations were held on bilateral cooperation in the field of wastewater treatment. In addition, the "children's environmental center" and the museum complex "Universe of Water" were presented to Vietnamese partners.

    Within the framework of the cultural program of the visit, the delegation visited the State Museum-Reserve "Peterhof" and the State Hermitage.
