International Youth Tournament «Kronshtadt: Step by Step» was held in Kronstadt on April 24 through 27, 2009. The tournament brought together the teams of schoolchildren from Kronshtadt, Narva-Jõesuu (Estonia) and Osipovichi (Belarus).

The event was held under the Decree of the St.Petersburg Government № 825 of July 8, 2008 «On the Implementation of Russian Federation Policy Concerning the Compatriots abroad for 2008–2010».

International Youth Tournament is based on the principles of urban orienteering. The major emphasis in the development of the route was put on the history and culture of Kronstadt and St. Petersburg, and on the theme of Russian, Estonian and Belarussian cultures interpenetration.

When passing the city «step by step» during the tournament, three teams – «Syabry (Friends)» (Town Osipovichi, Belarus), «Gungerburg» (Town Narva-Jõesuu, Estonia), and «Raduga (Rainbow)» (Town Kronshtadt) – answered questions, including those related to the history of Estonia and Belarus.

Besides the main tournament, the teams took part in a photo marathon around the streets of Kronstadt and the rich excursion program. A very warm, friendly atmosphere was contributed by an evening entertainment program in PMK «Mayak». The meeting of the coevals from three countries has shown that all of us share the commitment to peace, friendship, and cooperation. No borders would prevent us from being friends.
